before i used to be able to back up my files using Record Now,(but now when i try(using the create a new data disc option) i get a message to insert a blank or an appendable disc option)The disc that i put in is blank I have used this before with no problem,and I have tried other dics(as in + and -)but still get nothing......My dvd recorder is an atapi dvd dd 2x16x4x16.....can anyone help?
I do not use Nero (sorry about the 2 threads) is there something that i could use to see if my comp can see if there is a blank disc?
It was working before but now it is not(is there some sort of update that i need?)for the dvd recorder?
Why would Record Now not be good ...it has worked up untill now?
That is why i am confused that it does no work?
I am not to sure but i think that my comp cannot see the blank disc.

I had the same problem a couple of years ago, resolved it, and can't seem to remember what exactly needed to be done. This is what I do remember... When I first installed the DVD-RW hardware, I was able to write CDs and DVDs with RecordNow! with no problems.
Then, I purchased a Sony digital video camera, and installed the USB driver and ImageMixer software that came with it. After those installations, I could no longer use RecordNow! I would consistently get the error:
Please insert a blank or rewritable disk...
... even when a valid, empty disk was in place. I spent what seemed like ages researching the cause of this. It's been a while, but I thought it ended up being related to DLA, or atapi.sys, or IMAP, or something like that... the point being that there appeared to be some incompatibility between the way RecordNow! and the Sony camera's software (either ImageMixer the USB) driver used the drive.
Forgetting all that, I just helped a friend install software to get video off her Sony video camera and... Guess what? She now gets the same error when trying to use RecordNow! - "Please insert a blank or rewritable disk..."
