What do you need to mod a ps2, has anyone heard of HD Advance? Can someone help me figure out what I need to do to get my ps2 to be able to copy ps2 games with this program?
hd advanve is for a ps2 witha hard drive in it if you have a network apdter and a spare hd lying round you could use hd avance your best bet for a quick cheap fix is swap magic its just a boot disc that allows you to boot ps2 the swap if a backup
backing games up is simple just a few clicks with a free program
your two options - swap magic or modchip, have a look in the sticky about these things, but I'd suggest modchip as they are superior to swap magic (however they ARE a bit more expensive)
Yes I guess swap magic is a kind of soft mod... have a look in http://www.swapmagic3.com/ for more info. I'm not sure of the exact cost in US but probably around $20-$30 max.
Any modchip will work with HDLoader (HDAdvance is the pressed version of this), but for a good chip I'd recommend Matrix Infinity or DMS4 Pro. DMS4 in particular is probably your best choice if you want to play games off HDD - ToxicOS is unbeatable when it comes to this. get swap magic, then you can download HDLoader for free, it's better than HDAdvance too.
You'll also need a fliptop or slidetool, have a look on the swap magic site for more info on these, but I'd suggest a fliptop, it's a bit more expensive, but I think it's a lot easier to use than the slidetool
