Hi- I hope that someone might be able to give me some input. I have just intalled a new dvd writer, Sony DRU-820A. I noticed that the jumper was set at csel and have to admit that I don't know a whole lot about computers. I can install dvd drives by myself and maybe a couple of other things. My computer was giving me problems a while back, it was crashing when trying to write to a disc. A computer guy checked out my computer and thought that one of the ports on the motherboard was bad so he disconnected my cd writer (at the time I had a cd and dvd writer installed) and connected the dvd writer to the good port. Anyway, the dvd's started skipping just recently. I guess what I want to know is if that guy set up my system with the cable select wires can I still set my dvd writer jumper cable to slave? Do you think that that can help with performance? Hope someone can help and that I am making sense to you all.
