I dont rate Taiyo Yuden at all. From a pack of 25 8x discs, I only got about a 70% success rate (and thats a conservative estimate), compared to a 100% success rate with RITEK G05 discs. Plus, when I burnt the latest Hitman game, because it streams a lot of data from the disc constantly, there is a lot of skipping & you can hear the laser straining to read from the TY disc. Reburnt to RITEK & it loads quickly with no strain.

Always 1st with 100% working PS2 Online Game DNA$ IDs!!

I doubt you got fake TY's from meritline. It's possible you got a bad batch or your burner isn't compatible with them. Is your firmware up to date? The Media ID is easily faked. What does the code on the top of the disc say? It'll be in small print, around the inner hub. You may need to hold the disc up to a light to see it.

@kiss11

You can try to buy Office Depot 8x DVD-R's. I've only bought Office Depot DVD-R's once and I was lucky enought to get Ritek G05's. I wouldn't recommend it though, because you might get something else.

That's definitely not suggested. Most big companies outsource production of their DVD's to several different manufacturers, no telling what you'll get. The best place to order quality Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media is online from reputable sites.

86. Q. Where can I find good deals on legit Taiyo Yuden's and Verbatim's?
A. http://www.supermediastore.com
Great List of Merchants locally, online, in the U.K., etc:
