Is there any way dev hook or any other loaders can cause damage to the PSP or MEM stick??

The reason i ask is cause i keep seeing "FIRMEWARE" pop up all the time when reading through posts and i thought messing with firmware could cause damage to the PSP

No. Never. The only way you can screw up your PSP is by messing w/ the flash while it's unplugged. That and using earlier versions of the Fanjita's EBOOT loader. That thing really screwed w/ your Firmware. Don't worry about it tho. I have been hacking my PSP for a year and the FW (firmware) is still acting like it's brand new. And I've done TONS of crap to it. I'm surprise it ISN'T dead! Good luck and happy hacking...

EDIT: the only way I know of that you can screw your MS up is by removing it while the game is trying to save. I've never heard of the MS being flased or erased or anything...

can u play 2.60 games via umd from devhook, or is it jus 2.50 games???

you can play 2.60 games, but you have to change out the PRX files w/ 2.50 PRX files for those games to work. Also, I highly recommend Mok's mod on DevHook v0.42a. (The NO AUTO LAUNCHER version.) It's awesome and the on-screen text is totally different. Much nicer in appearance.

no, don't get a 2.60 update. You can't compress it to PRX anyway. (???) That doesn't make sense. BUT - if you put DevHook v0.42a on your MS, and then you put "dh" in your PSP\GAME folder, you need to put:

1.) A game requiring a 2.50 update in the drive to extract the files

2.) A game requiring a 2.00 update in the drive to extract the files

If you don't have those games, go here:

But IDK how to use the updates for DevHook if they're outside of the UMD. IDK where you would put them and how you would extract the updates. So if you have the UMDs, you're good to go.
