I'm trying to copy a UK PAL DVD to US NTSC. Both SVCD and DVD are having problems due to some sort of timing bug. My source is set to PAL 4:3 25fps. My destination is set to NTSC 4:3 29.97fps. I ripped the DVD with DVD Decrypter to M2V and AC3, then converted AC3 to WAV. Opened M2V and WAV as sources in TMPGEnc. WAV was automatically resampled for correct length it seems. Everything works perfect, EXCEPT that some silly computation error causes the frame count and time count to be wrong, so that the movie stops encoding about two thirds the way through. When setting up the wizard, the start/stop editor reports that the movie is 1 hr 20 min long, when it is really 1 hr 55 mins long. I told it to stop at 40 mins (when the knob was in the middle of the slider) to trick it into stopping at 58 mins, in order to fit one disk with half the movie. The result was, I have an SVCD (disk 1) for the first hour of the movie that works perfectly. However, the output MPG for disk 2 freezes at about where the 80 minute mark would be, because the encoder thinks the job is done. The output file is 55 minutes long (or reports so) as it should be, but freeze framed past 20 mins. Version is 2.54.37.135 I downloaded a newer version from the official site, but it refused to open my M2V files from DVD Decrypter, so I'm trying to use the older version. My experiment for tonight is to try to make an M2V to burn to DVD. We'll see how that goes. I have a feeling it will stop at 80 minutes into the 115 minute movie. It drives me crazy that the start/stop editor preview shows me video and sound all the way to the end credits, but then gives up early when actually encoding. Any other encoders out there to convert frame rate? Thanks!
