What sort of patch did you download?

If it is a PPF patch you can use UMDGen to apply it.
Check the readme of the patch.

You don't need it, you can apply a PPF patch using UMDGen. Just go to Tools-->Apply PPF to ISO.

I'm not sure, try both. (Try saving it first).

Then copy the ISO to a folder called ISO in the root of your memory stick and run it using DevHook.

To convert your ISO into the DAX format and it can be run using DAXZISO.

if i compress it to cso, can i still just use devhook for it or do i need another program? if not ill just try using dax i just dont want to get ANOTHER program

If you compress it into a CSO you have to use DevHook, if you compress it into DAX you have to use DAXZISO loader (so you use this instead of UMD Emulator).
