Hello,

I am hoping someone can help me with an ongoing problem. I have a 5 disk Sony DVP-NC655P DVD/CD player. It seems like any new release movie we rent will not play in this player. It is the one for my region so I can't see it being a region problem. I was thinking perhaps it had something to do with the new formatting they are doing on DVDs to protect them but not sure. Sony themselves have no answers for us on it. Does anyone have any ideas ?

Edit: I forgot to mention it plays backed up DVDs with no problem.

How old is the player?

Have you checked to see if there's a firmware upgrade for your player?

JVC that site only seems to have firmware for PC DVD drives unless I am missing something. Am I? (wouldn't suprise me if I did, after all it is Monday...lol).

Ok........... I didn't do a search there, but thought it might be in the "Other Firmware" forum. If it's not there, you may need to contact Sony about it. Sorry for the confusion...........
