As the last games machine I owned was a ZX Spectrum, the PSP is a whole new experience for me. As a PC user I'm puzzled at Sony's restrictions on the firmware. Even Microsoft isn't this restrictive.
I was a muppet and upgraded straight away from 2.6 to 2.7,(ignorance!) but if this was the same on Windows Mobile 5, I wouldn't have half of the wonderful apps I use.
It's a joke. I bought it 2nd hand and intended to gets all the games from the same sources as my US TV shows, but it seems I'm out of luck for now.
At least Location Free TV looks good.

True, but I was considering Slingbox, so I was in the market for such a device. I think the PSP is a chained beast which could really come into its own multimedia wise if Sony were less heavy handed.
Then we are talking about the creators of Betamax which lost the whole rental market due to Sony's restrictive practices, some people never learn!

Go to www.slingmedia.com
It's a device which plugs into the back of your satellite/cable box and transmits your TV over the internet.
It runs on PC and Windows Mobile.

Yes. Though the problem with Slingbox is that it doesn't have wireless components in it, so you need to connect via ethernet, which can be a problem if your TV and wireless router are in separate rooms.

Good if you're travelling overseas and want to get your digital TV package wirelessly. People are swapping codes apparantly to access each other's packages.
Good for getting US Satellite packages like Dish from abroad, if you get someone to swap codes with.
