I am a 14 year old boy who owns a white PSP.I used the upgrade file from sony and my psp crashed in the middle of upgrading.Now for som reason my warrenty is void but it wasnt my fault i had a fully charged battery and the mains pluged in and on.
Now sony say i will have topay £65 for a trade in which i cant afford since i put all my money into
buyin my psp. That means i have a chance of loosing my white psp case and givin a refurb black psp.I have complained to sony but they dont care.Therefore i am writing this thread on numerous forums and web blogs and im also sending an email to SONY'S Press centre and Consumer Rights agencies such as WatchDog a english consumer rights agency.
Please leave your comments and your own stories of a simple update failing. THANK YOU

I know that sucks, but if you have the other black PSP (as you make it sound you do), you should just swap motherboards. I did. I broke my white PSP trying to mod the motherboard and I just swapped motherboards w/ my old black PSP. works like a champ! Pain in the butt to swap the motherboard out, but at least if I play on 333 (which I do all the time) I can charge my alternate battery w/ the shell of the black PSP so I will never have to be w/o PSP entertainment...

I am also 14 and don't think a 14 year old child will be able to swap a PSP motherboard all by himself. :D

BTW i dont have a black PSP it was sony that said i should send them my psp and ill get a refurb psp back from them. thats y i might not get to keep any part of my white psp.

Well, I don't know how much you can trust me, but you can talk to pretty much anyone here on the forums; they all know I'm a good guy... I'll offer my services to you for FREE and I'll replace the motherboard for you. I just like working on PSPs and to know I could do this for a fellow PSPer... that'll be all good. Why don't you contaKt PSP-Tree.co.uk (Undercutter - they go by both names... search Google) or look on the web for a site that will sell you a new mobo... It doesn't matter which version b/c you can downgrade.
So basically, all you have to do is buy the motherboard and pay for shipping costs both ways... Ask someone in your family to help w/ the cost or something. I can help you, but I'd recommend NOT going thru Sony.
It's up to you, mate.

Is everyone here 14? Lol. I think that we should complain to Sony because they don't describe the security updates in their actual system updates. I did some research and by California and US law, Sony USA is forced to reveal everything that they are putting in their updates. If they don't they could be breaking the law.

Yeah...This is what Sony will tell you lol (if they had too)
The new Firmware 2.80 will do the following:
- Block the UP Modchip
- Block the new downgrader 2.60/2.50 to 1.50 from Dark AleX
- Stop you from viewing videos that are copyright
- Stop you from playing ISO Games
- Stop you from loading homebrew (snes, gba, snake, doom, quake 2, genesis, etc...)
- Stop you from loading loaders (dax, mph, etc..)
- Stop you from using future downgraders and homebrew
- Add a new language pack that you don't need
Do you wish to Upgrade now to 2.80?

Hell no, then no one will update. lol...they just say there are new features like
- Micrmedia Flash movie viewing
- New web browser
And people think
"oh cool, more things to add with my homebrew"
and then they see that they just fu**ked up, lol!

14 haha. Hey btw evolve did you update? i did on cinco de mayo on the way to dinner. in the car i tried to load up gta eloader aaaaaand: @#^%@^#%@^#%@!@#$%!!!!!! I upgraded before anyone tried it, and I thought, how could Sony block a game save? Sony's not that smart. ... They were.

Cheers Guano i might take you up on that. I kno that the new mod chip 4 psp will sort out my psp. And a games console repair company owner that i kno said if i get hold of the mod chip he would install if 4 bout £50. so im savin up ma money 4 that. www.gtelectronics.com they are in scotland but i trust him.

will suprize im 14 as well wonder if a psp onwers mostly are 14
PS3 brilliant ive got a 20gb jap here in the uk to high customs tho £92.90 and the step down was 45 quid oh well its awsome
