I just recently bought a dvd player that will also play DivX files. This is the first time I have really used DivX or XviD for viewing. All I did before is convert them to DVD format for viewing, in that I had to make sure they were in NTSC format (29 frames per second).

I burned a DivX movie that was 25 frames per second (PAL)which I did not think would play on my TV but it did. This causes confusion for me.

Does it matter what the frame rate is on a DivX file for viewing on TV?

If it does is there a program that will change the frame rate from PAL to NTSC?

If you are in the US, then PAL/NTSC does matter since most TV's can handle NTSC only. Thing is that most if not all DivX players have a built in converter. So you can play a PAL source and the player will output NTSC.

For NTSC, most of the time your framerate should be 23.976 since most NTSC DVD's are 23.976fps Progressive with 3:2 pulldown flags.

Thanks a lot that answers a lot of questions. It had me confused and looking for a way to convert the files. The DivX in a DVD is the way to go then as it will save a lot of time and effort of coverting them to DVD format.
