Hi pcaddict
Let's try some of these suggestions 1st and see how it's goes:
Quote:
Recorder: <DVDR/RW DX162D-A> Version: 100F
Can use a firmware update - the latest is 120F.
http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1958

This may help your drive recognize the media you are using - all it can see is this: Recorder: DVDR/RW DX162D-A, Media type: DVD+R
Usually you'll also see the manfacturer and the media code. Missing in yours.
What brand are you using and the rated burn speed? Like Sony 8x.
Quote:
CdRomPeripheral : DVDR/RW DX162D-A atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: Off

Turn DMA back on for the burner. Here's a guide:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038
Quote:
Physical memory : 255MB
Free physical memory: 94MB
Memory in use : 62 %
512 mb in memory is better - add more if you can to help. For now keep are much free as possible and no multitasking.
Quote:
File 'Drivers\InCDfs.SYS'
If your not using Nero's InCD - uninstall it and run the clean tool. Can sometimes cause problems.

could not download firmware from cyberdrive websites, corrupted .zip files. used 140f instead from dangerous brothers. i did most of what you said but still had a problem. i burned at 8x but if i burn at 4x would it work. i have wasted many dvds. i use imation though, could that be the problem. here is the latest log.

Hi pcaddict
Yes those Imation's could be your problem - your drive still doesn't recognize them even after the Dangerous Bros firmware update - maybe why 4x is working and not 8x. For those stick with 4x.
Better would be Verbatim or made in japan only Sony. Fuji or Maxell.

I just tried the download from Cyberhome - no corrupt files. You might want to try redownloading the firmware and trying the 170F.

More in use this in this log - try and keep as much free as possible. No multi tasking and shut down any unncesscary programs.

Hi pcaddict
Ok - just check the bottom right hand in the system tray and see if anything is running there like im's, iTunes, antivirus (disconnect from internet first).
When they are turned off before you burn you can look in task manager under performance and see how much is free.
If you can add a 256mb stick of ram - that would be best.

Are you still having problems burning?
