Hey guys, i got a major problem here :/ My toshiba Satellite A10 laptop does not boot at all. I mean, when i press the power button, nothing happens...literally, nothing. No led's come on, no sounds, zippo. I tried without the battery and plugged the ac in, nothing, tried it with, still nothing. I scoped out the insides of it, couldn't find anything wrong :S. What's next? Do i scavenge it for parts and sell it or...try to fix it? I would really appreciate any replies!

Thanks again,
ATIROCKS

well i had a Toshiba Satellite A65 laptop and it had a really bad overheating problem which i wasnt aware of and then one day it crashed and wouldnt turn on either, i later discovered that the motherbord had been basiclly fried because of the frequent overheating and there was nothing i could do becuase if i had to buy a new motherbord and i might as well buy a new laptop because it wouldnt cost much more, but i dont know if thats similar to your problem or not

I've come across parts for this model, the mobo's come around 300-400 bucks, but the lcd screen has a crack in it :/ I guess i should scrap it and buy a new lappy? Btw, how else could i determine if the mobo has been fried? Like, the underside has gotten warm occasionally, but, not /hot/. I also made sure there was adequate ventilation.

Btw, appreciate the reply!! :D

i dont know if yours has the same problem that mine did or not becuse when i say it got hot i mean when you touched it, it almost burnt your skin not just warm lol.....but as far as checking to see if the motherbord is fried i really dont know, im not an expert on that sort of thing, i just knew that was the problem on mine becuse i had replaced the hdd and it still didnt work and pretty much all the components in mine were part of the motherbord so even if it was something else it could be fixed without replacing the motherbord, also i had a few other people look at it and they all said they thought it was the motherbord....hope you can get yours up and running again though

Yea, i'm not sure either, haven't had the time to check anything out with a meter yet :/ Hopefully it could be fixed, heck, that would be awesome if it could, it'd save me $1000. lol. But, i appreciate all the help and support from everyone. Cheers.

I have had a few Toshibas die on me due to heat. They never really got too hot, but over time the heat I guess started to have an affect.

I did a quick search and I see that a lot of people are selling the DC jack for the A10 (an other compatible models). IF you are comfortable with it, crack the case and make sure the solder points are still intact for the DC jack and that the board is actually getting power. IS the battery charging at all? The DC jacks tend to break from the power cord being bent/pulled while they are plugged in. Just a random thought.

Good luck.
