When I had N6 I could multi-task. I just upgraded to Nero 7 and low demand apps, like my browser, freeze when launched...but the burn continues fine until finished. Task manager says I am using less than 5% of my system resources.
So, I am wondering if this is an N7 bug, or if there was an installation problem?

What usage does the CPU show? Some utilities in Nero 7 use almost 100% of my CPU power (2.4GHz)when doing a task.
Nero 7 v7.10.1.0
P4 2.4GHz 1 Gig RAM

I am running W2k on a P 2.4 oc'd to 3.2 w/1 GB of DDR. I do a lot of video rendering with apps like DVD Rebuilder-CCE, and can launch other apps with these encoders going full-tilt (using 100% of the CPU). Task Manager says I am using less that 5% of my CPU with Nero, and only 250 MB RAM (where about 100MB of that holds W2k).

It has been my experience that 2 versions of Nero7, (7.0.2.3/b and 7.2.3.2b....both buggy) were the only ones that drove up the CPU usage to excess, all other versions performed normally.
As you can see by his sig, saltgrass is using this version.

Hmmm...I just upgraded this week through the Nero site, and the download was 7.2.3.2b. Is there something more recent than this that isn't buggy?

Gwendolin...the only reference I found to v7.0.8.2 was the box on the right side of the page...and it appears that link in no longer valid. Other Nero links outside of that box took me to the Nero site...which offered the version I now have.
Do you have another version you would recommend?

Gwendolin...I just noticed that you mentioned those two versions "drove up" CPU usage. Usage didn't actually go up...it is about the same as it always was. That is why I was wondering if I had a bad install, or if this is just a bug with Nero's latest. It sounds more like a bug?

Yes the versions mentioned are "buggy", I just went to that link and 7.0.8.2 is STILL available, you have to click on the green arrow.
Memory usage is abnormally high when using them.

Gwendolin...that earlier version did help...and I was able to launch other apps. Thanks for your help.
Also, N7 is clearly a memory monster when it comes to burning DVD's. It is difficult for me to understand why so much memory is needed when N6 got by on considerably less?
