Well you can buy a modchip if you dont have a TA-082 motherboard.
To check see this pic:


Buying a modchip allows you to run two firmwares-the latest one from Sony and firmware 1.5. So you can enjoy homebrew as well as the latest features from Sony.

Yeah.

No one who already has firmware 1.5 needs to buy a modchip though (unless they bricked their PSP). Thanks to Dark_Alex and Booster, we should soon be able to emulate 2.7 on 1.5!

Well its not that big of a difference for you to upgrade regardless. Homebrew is a big reason why you should've have stayed lower. Lock your bro in a closet for an hour to teach em a less lol..

ok on the note of a downgrader(just so you know i know nothing about coding and so on just an idea)
iv'e heard alot of people talking about a possible downgrader through the web broswer, but what i was thinking is something to do with the game sharing side of things, i recently saw a vid on youtube showing tekken dr being shared from a 1.5 to ithink is a 2.6 via gamesharing

so does this mean that there could be a way to make hombrew that you can share from a 1.5 to a 2.XX???
or as i said possibly a way to downgrade???
