My Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection ID is BLANK! When I go to my Mario Kart DS options, how do I get it/Make it appear?

Where is this in the menus? I can't find it to be able to help you, is it your friend code?

Have you connected to WiFi before?

I've NEVER connected to Wifi before. And I am playing mario cart DS. You go Nintendo WFC on the main menu, then Nintendo WFC Settings, then options, then system information. ANd right there it's blank but I do have my mac address.

Ah i see it, that will remain blank untill you connect to Nintendo Wifi for the first time, you then get allocated a Wifi connection ID.

If you then use the game in a different DS it chnages the Wifi ID, and you lose your online stats and friend code.

This doesn't make sense though. It gave me a 5200 error because my pc and the ds were sharing the same IP address. I manually changed it and it gave me a 20100 ( something like that) error stating that the Wifi ID needed to be changed. Which is silly cause I have no control over that. I'm stuck! I have bars (connection) right username, right wep key, etc. etc. etc.!

Just use DHCP for the IP address and it should be fine. Don't even bother with static IPs.

DHCP? What about the transmission rate? It says put it on 1-2 but I have options of 1 OR 2MPs not 1 AND 2. Can't I just keep it on auto? And the DCHP is the same ip as my computers IP address. Same with my gateway.

Well, I just checked my Wi-Fi connection settings on my DS and I have auto-obtain enabled for both the IP and the DNS. I don't see anything referring to transmission.

Oh, and DHCP is enabled when auto-obtain IP address is on. Ideally, the router just gives out the next available IP address on the home network. So say, my PC's IP address is 192.168.1.100 and there are three other computers connected, so 100-104 are taken. I then connect my Xbox, and it gets 192.168.1.105 and if I connect my DS right after it should get 192.168.1.106. Although the network IP's are different, the WAN IP address is the same on all of these.

Also, everything besides the LAN IP address will be the same as you PC, so the DNS, subnet mask, and gateway should all be the same as your PC. I just left it on auto so I wouldn't have to worry about it.

But what if I have my wireless connection set to "Manual Configuration" for everything? Instead of obtain automatically (For torrent reasons). Then don't I have to manually enter the info in the DS?

You should still be able to set your DS to auto. Static IP addresses are usually used for things like port forwarding, which I assume is what you're doing while using torrents. However, static IP addresses are set by whatever's trying to connect if I recall correctly, and the router just hands out the next available one if the machine trying to connect doesn't specify an IP address.

when you connect it will tell you your wifi id is invalid. continue through it and it will assign a wifi ID for you.. or at least it should. If not, erase all the connections you have, and then retry. If you have access to another DS (like a friend's).. try getting your friend code on their DS - if it works, try it again in yours and it should work fine

I figured it out. The latest EZ4 Client (10/7/06) is bugged and disables the wifi. Hooray! I can now play online.

I just tried playing WiFi with that firmware out of curiousity, and it works just fine for me.

In other news, my first attempt at playing Mario Kart DS ended with me getting owned. Hard.

I think it was just the kart I was using. The guys I played against weren't snaking or anything, so I can only assume they just had better karts.
