I have a Phillips dvd which supports XVID's, DivX and MPEG's. I want to bypass the whole conversion process and burn a dvd with say 2-5 movies on it and have amenu drive it from the start. Any ideas on software programs that would accomplish such a tasks?

If your DVD player is Xvid/DivX MPEG4 compatible then burn a data DVD and add the AVI files. When you put in the DVD the DVD player will bring up a menu for you to choose from. Then just choose whatever AVI file you want.

It isnt fancy but it works.

What Phillips DVD player do you have? I have a Phillips DVD player also that plays Xvid/DivX and all I have to do is make a data DVD and when you put it in the DVD player the player brings up a menu to choose what AVI file you want. It also will let you hit the chapter forward button if you want to go to the next AVI on the DVD.

Model 672 I think - I just found out what was wrong - in the settings of the DVD - there is an area you have to enable menus for mp3, jpeg or mpeg files - viola - it works - thanks for all the info - I love this player as I get my life back for no more or lesser conversions...

Thanks again...

Yes it is a good player. I actully use DVD-RW that way after I watch an AVI file and dont need it anymore I can just reburn the disc with diffrent AVI files on it. Make's it so simple.
