Hi,
I have just bought a jap firmware 1.0 new £117!!.
Problem. it runs the jap version of Ridge Racer that comes with it but as soon as I put in say Midnight Dub edition or the new TOCA RACER 2006 it says need newer firmware. I know I have a sort after piece of kit but why can I not play the games. There are no download files that I can see on the disc under games.... Any ideas. Don't really want to updrade unless I have to as will want to eventually get to homebrewing.

Any help would be great...

I don't think you can play ISOs on a v1.00. You should upgrade to v1.50, the ONLY firmware that can do anything!

Upgrade to 1.5 http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/4

and then use devhook to load the games. 1.5 is better than 1.0 anyways 1.5 is compatabile with 100% of homebrew while 1.0 is about 90% becuase it cant run loaders.

Thanks for help....... would it be easier to go to the newest firmware 2.71 or 1.52??

yeah make sure you never go above 2.6 or youll be stuck there

DO NOT UPGRADE TO 2.6 THOUGH becuase youll have to downgrade with a downgrader that is not yet perfect.

I hate 2.6 and I cant swap the motherboards becuase it has many broken connections becuase of my carelessness.
