Problem burning DVD videos from quick time movies

I wonder if anyone can help? I have been trying to burn DVD videos from a combination of quick time movies and jpeg stills using a version of Nero that came bundled with a Sony DVD writer.
Initially, I had a lot of problems using the software so I unistalled it, then re-installed and downloaded updates from the Nero website. I also updated the firmware for the DVD writer. The software then worked a lot better. However, when I get to the stage of burning a disc and although the process seems to start OK, after a while Nero stops - it just doesn't respond. I have disabled the antivirus application to free up the processor and memory, but this doesn't help.
Has anyone else come across this problem? Does anyone have any idea how I could overcome this problem? I have Nero burning ROM version 6,6,1,4 and Nero vision 3,1,0,25. My PC runs Windows XP Home, 256Mb RAM with an Athlon XP1700 processor.

I followed the advice from Gwendolin. It worked - I burnt a dvd. Then I tried to edit the project and started with problems again - editing was slow and often Nero stopped responding. Also, I can't get a burn to complete. I've tried various options, including different discs, writing to hard drive, slowing the write speed, but nothing works. Usually Nero stops responding, often a few minutes into the burn process, but sometimes much later. Sometimes I get an error log. I attach the latest in the hope someone will interpret this and give me some more advice. Thanks.

In the absence of knowing what else to do I uninstalled Nero again, ran the clean tool, re-installed, then cleaned the registry using 'Registry Mechanic'. Then I tried burning my project again. Again a message that the burn had failed together with an error log.
Nero must be one of the least friendly applications that the 'average' user attempts to make use of. I am now on the verge of sending back my dvd writer and trying to get my money back. Anyone else have similar sentiments?
