Getting a DNAS off of original disc WITHOUT modded PS2

Any way at all to do this with a PC? I can't believe that no PC apps can decode the DNAS.img file. There's gotta be something.

How do you do it then? Everything I have read says you need a modded PS2 to boot the Disc ID utilities.

You could use swap magic to boot it, or an old gameshark.. or AR max EVO. anything retail.

i get my id's from original games by putting in a disc i downloaded from the net(not sure where it is i got the disc but once unrarred the disc is about 1gb) and then pressing eject and putting in the real game and pressing x which gives me the id. i then write it down and patch the iso with windip

You still need a modded PS2 (chip or Swap Disc & flip/slide tool) to get the Disc ID Utility to run, which MUST be done on a PS2. There is NO way to get the ID from a disc on a PC.

I agree anything that's burnt cannot run without swap magic or modchip (unless it's a DVD video) so not sure what He_Man is talking about... but then he's suspended so that tells you something

Yes well if you could mention that you use swap magic next time it won't be so misleading to other newbies :) Besides, you still need to mod it to use fliptop/magic switch/slide card :)

oh so u call taking the little thing infront of the drive modding now(cant quite think of the word to describe it its the little thingy that u need to take out with a screwdriver to let the slide card in)

Yes personally I think it's a better way to describe it rather than saying that you don't need to mod your PS2 and you can play backups, which is not true

Using Swap Magic with fliptop or slide card is still considered a mod. Its proper name being a 'softmod'. You really should check your knowledge with mod sites He_Man, cos they all consider it soft-modding. So, to run any type of burnt app/game on PS2 you DO need a mod of some description, whether hard-modded, or soft-modded.
