hey guys, I think I just got a fake memory stick but neways...who had been using a fake 4gb memory stick but has success with it, anyone knows if it is reliable and how long u been using it...does it still work fine, i tried it for a day now and it seems to work fine...TELL ME YOUR EXPERIENCE thanks

Well I have a fake 2 gig MS Pro Duo in my PSP
I have a fake 2gb Sandisk mini in my Sidekick 3
Both work Fine.
For the most part the fakes will work fine.
Some may even have slight raised capacities.
But they definitly don't write as fast to the card.
They wont last as long for most.
And NO WARRANTY!

Ive been using a fake 1gb since Feb with no probs at all. Data transfer rate doesnt seem to bad. Takes about 2mins to copy across a large ISO.
Considering it cost me £15 compared to £50 (£70 back when I bought it) that some of the High Street Retailers are charging, I cant complain....not that I have any reason to anyway. Id buy another one tomorrow :)

Ive had a 2g fake sony for 6 months and works good. I'll get a real 4g cause the fake is only 10 bucks cheaper. The 2g was like 100 bucks cheaper.

Also, a fake memory stick shows a different capacity to a real one..although the difference isnt much.

yeah, ive been using a fake one, its been ok. didnt blow up YET. and yeah, it does have a slight copacity higher then the real one. 10 mbs to be exact,,on mine atleased

Hi, I bought a fake 4 gig and 2 gig mem stick for the psp.
I tried the 4 gig and it works for photos and has the compasity.... but wont work for games..
I have made an iso of ape escape which i got with the psp, but it wont work.... took it to the place where i got the psp downgraded to 1.5 and he tried it and couldnt get it to work.... he then said it could be from the large amount of data on a 4 gig, and recommend a 2 gig...
I did the same with the two gig, but it still doesnt work...
Has anyone ever experianced the same thing? could someone give me any advise (apart from buy a real mem stick)

If the game doesnt work with 4gb or 2gb then I would say its the ISO and nothing to do with the memory stick. Cant see size of the memory stick having any bearing at all....

I also tried it with someone else who had working iso.s on their PSP..... but it didnt work when copied to my stick....

Devhook didn't work for me before because of my fake 2GB stick but now it is. I don't know if any of you guys can get this to make devhook work for you. But I will tell you exactly what I did.
*Important* - Backup your whole memory stick to your PC to a folder on the root of your hard disk.
[1] Tried Devhook 0.41d, didn't work again.
[2] Connected PSP to PC to delete ISO , and there was a corrupt folder on there, I couldn't delete. Windows said run chkdsk
[3] Went to "My Computer", "G:\" (my psp) Right-click and scanned stick through properties, with both options checked ("Auto fix file system errors", "scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors"). This deleted a lot of files off my memory stick. So I copied them across again from my backup.
[4] Went into PSP and it said I only had 300mb left on memory stick, so I was like oh shit it got the values wrong again, so I formatted the memory stick through the PSP twice.
[5] Now I had to copy the files from my backup on to the PSP again. But I had done it so many times I decided to make things easy for my self and copy through MSDOS.
I wrote this code into a text file and saved it as copy.bat

i guess I'll explain xcopy for the noobs. Xcopy works like this -
xcopy [source] [destination]
The switch /E - means it copies all subdirectories from the source including empty ones to the destination
The switch /Y - means it will not ask you to confirm overwriting a file.
I'm pretty sure you can tell where you need to put your files etc. Change the code according to where/what you folders are.
Oh yeh I had everything from my PSP on there, including the ISO that I wanted to test which was Gradius Collection. So after it copied like 2239 files (included music ). I put PSP on and tested Devhook. OMG its working.
I'm pretty sure step 5 is what made it work, but I thought I'd write exactly what I did to make sure

im not sure seem's to me like it cant be the card since the psp has to load the game i mean if it works with music and stuff thier shouldnt be a problem its not like the sticks have security to keep you from running iso's are you sure its not the program your useing to load the game's?

But did it so many times last night.... still dont know why it wont work!

yeah i have a fake 2gig works perfect im not sure whats wrong with yours you sure its not the psp maybe some files were left after downgraded i heared some talk about people going to 2.0 after they downgraded then downgrade to 1.5 to make sure all the files have been deleted but not sure
