Whoopsie. You need a X1600XT crossfire master card I think.

If not you need the little dongle to bridge the cards(might only be sli actually)

Hmm, dunno. Lemme look *leaves the message alone and hits up google* ...you're right. Are you sure it's a crossfire mobo and not an SLi mobo? 'Cuz then it's not gonna work anyway.

Also, make sure you have an SLi/Crossfire certified PSU. And(I'm not sure about this) I think you might need WinXP MCE or Pro to do it. So if you have Home that might be it.

i have a lanparty motherboard design for ati crossfire video cards . and i use windows xp. is there a way of knowing if the crossfire is working , because catalyst let's me make the crossfire fine but i got no way of telling if is actually working. i can play all of my games including oblivion on the best graphs with just 1 video card so i don't really have a way of testing the crossfire , is there any?

That's gotta be at a pretty low resolution then because the X1600XT can't really handle Oblivion at full detail on its own. I'm thinking 640 x 480? Not even the X1900XTX 512MB can handle Oblivion on full settings.

I think it has to be Windows XP Professional or Media Center Edition. Home Edition might not cut it. I think this because I have to use Professional for my Dual Core processor.
I'm not saying XP in general here.

Also, you could set it through Catalyst? And it's on? Then why did you even ask? I'm pretty sure it's working then. Download Sisoft Sandra and that'll tell you if they are both working if it detects both cards.

Ok, first off in SiSoft Sandra it directly tells you all the components on your computer. It tells you how many slots of each kind you have and how many you have free. Simply see if it says both PCIe slots are occupied. I'm not sure though if it can directly detect SLi or Crossfire.

And pcrepair, the X1800XT is better than the 7800GT, not the X1600XT. I think he meant the X1X00 series in general. He meant for each performance range:entry/mid/enthusiast.

The X1600XT can handle Oblivion but not very well at higher than about 800 x 600. Because it does not have a terribly large amount of horsepower. In Crossfire it is just fine though in 1024 x 768.
