i would like to find out the true speed of my network.
I am willing to make a diy modual if i can easily find the parts but preferably i would like to install a fuly functional program (not demo or trial) dont care if its cracked or w/e. as long as it works and tells me the speed and status info. Curently if i use a cable through my router it always says 100mb/s and if it wireless its at 108mb/s. neither of these r true. i just wanna know the true speed!

Thanks

Just type bandwidth test or internet speed test or something into google. It has all sorts of little services you can use for free.

They don't monitor your speed constantly but they give you the current speed at the time of the test.

AMD Phenom II X6 1100T 4GHz(20 x 200) 1.5v 3000NB 2000HT, Corsair Hydro H110 w/ 4 x 140mm 1500RPM fans Push/Pull, Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5, 8GB(2 x 4GB) G.Skill RipJaws DDR3-1600 @ 1600MHz CL9 1.55v, Gigabyte GTX760 OC 4GB(1170/1700), Corsair 750HX

It gave me an inaccurate and approximate(said appx.) amount. 500Kbps on a 1.5Mbps T1. Good? Not today anyway ;)

And I'm pretty sure I have nothing hogging up my bandwidth to throw the test off either.

Use ones that give an exact decimal amount. That way the test can't go horribly wrong with rounding down or up.

i saw someone had made a device that he plugs his network cable into and a network cable comes out the other side that he plugs into his computer. Although it doesnt measure the max. speed it measures the curent speed that is going through the wire. (the max he got on rogers high speed was 14.8 mb/s, not the 100 mb/s rogers says!)

I cant remember the site or how i got 2 it!
if anyone knows were i might find it again i am interested in building one!

Thanks

Didn't know Rogers offered OC-3. Your friend must be loaded. ;)

Must've been measuring the LAN speed, not internet.

-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

UM i think the guy wants to measure his lan speed not interen speed

our lan is 100 but our game lan is 1000 cos we use direct cable for the games
however we never use anything like it

i7 3770 12GB ram terrabyte sata drive 1 750Gb sata drive 285GTX graphics Sony dvdwriter same NZXT Nemesis case
Still playing Black Hawk Down why did I upgrade?

just because it says its 100mb/s on ur comp doesnt mean that is the right speed. @ my house it says its 100 all the time, but for real its about 5-9mb/s on average.
