Hi how do you backup Dragon Quest VIII PAL, I use:
PC: 1gz processor ,256mb SDRAM, FAT32 system
tools: DVD Decryter> ISO Read>ISO Write
I used sony media both Plus and minus disc. Ive burned at 8x,6x,4x the disc max is 8x. No erros come up in the decrypter log.I boot it up with swapmagic and it just stays a black scrren. I have burned other games using this method but this game i just cannot crack. Any helpers?

watch the use of the word "crack", I think it's one of those words that the mods don't like...

I did a straight backup with this and it works fine, I didn't use swap magic with it though... maybe you can try rebuilding?

The problem most likely lies in your antiquated FAT32 system, as it won't support file sizes over 4Gb. You really should be using an NTFS file system, especially if you run Windows NT/2000 or XP, even more so if you're planning on backing up PS2 games.

Convert that file system.

go to command line, then type "convert x: /fs:ntfs" where x: is the drive letter (probably c: if you only have one HDD)

have a look here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/176791

You don't need to rebuild DQ8 for it to work with swap magic according to this... have you tried the backup on another PS2 to see if it works?

couple of things you could try... if you have access to a PS2 with modchip then great, otherwise even trying it with swap magic on another console would help too
