FIRST OFF, it's not a downgrade or upgrade. You get to keep v1.50 software. Dax's program (EBOOT) takes a simple module which is NOT a PRX file, (which he renamed to vshmain.prx) and replaces vshmain.prx (the one $ony wrote, which is an ACTUAL PRX.) In essence, it replaces a PRX file with a different type of module. What this does, is at startup (from a hard reset) Dax's "vshmain.prx" (which is not really a PRX) says to the Flash, "Hey! Look at me! Do this:" and b/c of that file, (Dax's vshmain.prx) it routes the PSP activity right to the EBOOT of your choice. From a hard reset, hit the power button, count to 5 and you're at the DevHook menu. (I only say DevHook b/c I use it all the time; it's up to which App/game you want it to load.)
It also disables the AUTORUN feature (WHICH $ony wrote). So if you have a 1.50 game in your 1.50 PSP, it will no longer launch when you turn your PSP on from SOFT OR HARD reset. (Pretty fricken sweet IMHO)
To get back to 1.50 after having been in 2.60/2.71, launch a game. (ISO OR UMD) and just like you wanted to go back to XMB, you will hold L + R + UP on Dpad. Now this will bring you to a BLUE screen. This is "Recover Mode". It's if you screw something up, you would need to get to here. I won't go into this now. If you would like more info on this, look it up or PM me. In recovery mode, just hit home. Now this is to EXIT, but since you have Dax's Autorun on (if that's how you choose to have it), it's gonna route back to the DevHook menu. At this point, just hit EXIT. This is STILL MUCH faster than doing a hard reset and starting up again w/o Dax's autorun on. This is the sweetest thing to happen in the history of PSP b/c it's opened up a new door for development!
Here's the link: READ THE THREAD before doing this. It's kinda tricky; I spent an hour or so reading all 13 pages (13 at the time; now it's like 18 pages) so I wouldn't screw anything up.
After you get done reading that, go here. This is another sick module (this time, the module is a PRX file) which enables USB mode as soon as you plug the USB cable in, instead of having to go all the way to the left and choose USB. This enables you to be in USB mode, but you can actually navigate thru all directories of your PSP; it's not "locked down" into "USB Mode".
It also offers screenshots by hitting the NOTE button, at ANY time.
It also makes the XMB (in 1.50 mode) run a little bit faster (you'll have to see to understand)
and... it makes your Computer to PSP Memory Stick transfers even FASTER! (So I've read. Haven't tried it yet.)
This is a MUST have for all v1.50 pwners!
Here's the link for the add-on. DO NOT DO THIS UNTIL YOU DO THE POC Custom FW.
Been playing with it a bit, this is pretty sick. No lame startup, auto USB recognization, autoload devhook, dumping screenshots, and thats just the beginning!!! Guano keep me up to date with any new module usage, im actually excited about the psp again!!
