I just installed this program. I want to take a DVD movie and convert it to XviD AVI. I would like the file to be around 700MB. What settings are best to meet this size.(video and audio total)
Also I want to take a tv series animation dvd which usually has about 7 or 8 episodes and make an AVI file for each episode. Is there a way to do this? Your help is much appreciated as I am new to this game.

are you talking about AutoGK, because it has an option for what size you want the file to be, and it picks the settings for you.

Yes I am using autogk, I picked the 1cd option but the file still ended up being over 1 gig. I would like to make a AVI file for each episode, how do I do this?

Hi,
Did you read the tutorial in the link I provided? Make sure you select the file you want to convert to AVI, choose 700mb (depending on your pc specs anywhere from 2 to 3 hours with 2 pass) as your output file hit add job and the software does the rest.

i got the same problem using this app
not an expert in converting dvd to AVI,and first time i used it
this is what i did
read the iso in ifo mode to hardrive using decrypter
loaded the ifo in gknot
selected predefined size to 1 cd (700mb)
expected output size was over 900mb
any ideas?
edit: it seems there are certain films that gknot cannot compress enough,due to the quality issues

this usally happens when you have two version of xvidinstalled over each other.De-install XviD and then re-install it and see if that helps.

see above,although i will try what you suggested
its a steep learning curve,as this is pretty new to me (dvd to AVI)

oh didnt even know about that.
are you trying to compress a concert or a full-screen material filmed with handheld cameras?
Try the XviD reinstall just in case though because its in the AutoGK FAQ
6.14 and 6.3

You could also try coverting to DivX to see if the problem is in the codecs or AutoGk.

hmm,after reading the tut again,i think i have mis-intrepted what it says..looks like it was talking about the putput size being bigger than the input size,(which is not the problem i have)
what i am trying to do is prepare an upload
i have 3 films which are ready for converting,gingersnaps 1/2/3
i want to put them on 1 dvd,with menus,and i want the size to be as small as possible,for uploading reasons
i unstalled the XviD mpeg4 codec i had,and re-installed XviD codec 1.1
not done nothing since

Think it comes with one of my previous XviD builds. Using another build could cause problems with ESS and MTK encoding since it would probably lack MTK profiles and if it were old then it would have DXN HT profiles instead of the newer renamed Home Theatre profiles. So when AutoGK tried to load a profile, it doesn't exist. This I think would cause XviD to use SP@L0.
