I am having real trouble backing up this DVD. I know the DVD isn't damaged, because when my copy didn't work I tired my friends and it had the same error in the same spot. I first used DVD Shrink and got this error:
Failed to read "D:/"
Copy Protection Error - the read failed because the sector is encrypted"
I have also tried DVD Decrypter, AnyDVD, CloneDVD, DVD Fab Gold, and DVD Fab Decrypter. None of them have worked. I have isolated the file with the problem, it is the 2nd Video TS file for the main title. Everything else has been ripped succesfully. The really frustrating part is that it is part of a set and NONE of the other movies in the set have had this problem. What else can I try?
Also, I have tried using DVD Decrypter with it set to automatically ignore the bad sectors and use dummy sectors, but it doesn't seem pratical. As I type this, it has encountered 35 bad sectors and taken half an hour, and is only 37% ripped, Plus, the first 38,000KB ripped fine meaning that all the bad sectors have come in the 10,000KB since. It is a 1.04GB file. How many bad sectors could I be lookin at? Hundreds? Thousands? I don't want to look at it taking weeks to get through all the bad sectors.

Have you tried RipIt4Me?
Have you tried lowering your read speed?

Yeah, I tried ripit4me. The problem with that program is that it just uses DVD Dcerypter to rip, which I have already tried. I think I may have just found a DVD that is unrippable.

yeah but, using decrypter alone is different from using it with Ripit4me, Ripit4me uses PSL files to rip the disc and then FixVts to correct files. so use Ripit4me, it might just work.
Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

Oh, didn't know. I did use it though, and Ripit4me didn't work either. The weird thing is, this is not a new DVD, it came out in 2000, so I don't understand why all the new progrmas can't handle it.

It is disc 7 of Ken Burns' Baseball. 1-6 and 8-10 ripped with no problems. BUt for some reason, 7 won't no matter what I do.

It's not the disc. I tired two different copies and the error happens in the EXACT same place on both. can't be a coincidence.

Can't exchange it, it is past warranty. But I rented it and again, same spot. This makes three copies of the same DVD in the same exact spot. There is no possible way it is just a bad disc.

I guess this is the only chose..
try to rip it again with dvdd and (ignor read error)and (retry 0).then let it run until it finish ripping. see if it work..
