Its a framerate problem, do you know what the input framerate is?
Are you PAL or NTSC?

As emachine says mate try PSPvideo9 it has anime options with it.
It could be that its an mkv file wrapped in a AVI container and there has been some people that has had problems converting them.

MKV can contain various streams, and some software is not capable of finding the right stream to encode. You may then have to go and extract the streams youself, remux them and then convert.

Something that also works very well to convert to psp format is Nero. I have never had a video that was out of sync and it is very FAST too.

Only converts to SP though for PSP.
But you can use Nero to encode AVC, then with atomchanger make it compatible for PSP. ;)

@sudds
The updated version of Nero can convert directly to psp accepted format. Its called PSP Memory Stick Video or something like that. It's all I use to convert to psp format.

Um there might be you wanna check tho. Yes Nero will fix the out of sync prob your having. I have never converted a video that was out of sync, they have all worked flawlessly. You have to make sure its the most up to date version of Nero 7 tho.

There is two formats for the PSP, SP and AVC, currently Nero can only encode to SP the inferiour of the two.
You need the .NET FRAMEWORK 1.1 installed before installing PSPvideo9.
