Okay, I hope this question hasn't been asked. I tried to search for it, but came up empty handed sooo . . .

I've got some videos on DVD that I'd like to be able to rip select short sections to either an mpeg file or a wmv file. I'm hoping there is *Some* way to do this without going through the trouble of ripping the entire thing for just a few minutes of video. Is there an easy-to-use program that does this, as I'm not only asking for myself, but a friend as well who isn't as computer literate as I am (and I'll be trying to teach him how to do this!).

Thank you for any and all help!

Maybe Pocket DVD studio would be your choice
It can rip/convert DVD to WMV format with just a few clicks
I use it all the times. If works greate for me.
Here is a link for free download.

You can serach it in this forum.

Sure Kaileen, if you search "extract dvd clip" or "rip dvd clip" in google, click on the top 1 (http://www.aoamedia.com/dvd_ripper_copymode.htm), you'll find a useful guide on how to rip video clips from a DVD. It's very simple :) You don't need to rip the entire DVD.

On the last step, set the output format to mpeg or wmv.

Ripping only the specified segments from DVD can not be a difficult task as long as your ripper support the function, most of the ripper allow you to do this,i'd like to suggest you use imtoo ripper, you can easily get this done by set the start point and duration at the right panel of the soft's interface, and click start.but there is flaw of the software that's free trial version doesnot support this, you can search through the internet for getting another free soft to do this.
