1.the guide i found says:
(At first you must create a text file, containing the VOB file names, that contain your movie you want to transcode.
Below, you can see an example, of how the file has to look like. Save the file anywhere you like, and give it the extension '.cffl'.)

2.how do i do this, i think i did it right but it did not work.

3.my file is on my desk top and it's called PLATOON

4. IT SAYS TO INCLUDE ALL VOB FILES 1 THROUGH ETC. (SHOULD I ALSO INCLUDE VIDEO_TS.VOB???????)

Hi!

Just open notepad (this is an exact copy of my textfile for backuping Harry Potter and with my string)and whrite like this:

CFFL
C:\Harrypotter1\VTS_01_1.VOB
C:\Harrypotter1\VTS_01_2.VOB
C:\Harrypotter1\VTS_01_3.VOB
C:\Harrypotter1\VTS_01_4.VOB
C:\Harrypotter1\VTS_01_5.VOB
C:\Harrypotter1\VTS_01_6.VOB
C:\Harrypotter1\VTS_01_7.VOB
C:\Harrypotter1\VTS_01_8.VOB

Now save as: C:\Harrypotter1.cffl

Open up Rempeg2 and open this new text file. Remepeg2 will now load all VOB's ( it will take some time but when once done that it will save a file called xx.cffl.vinf and you can use this file to "fast load" the VOB's again.

Good luck!

the easy way to create a cffl list is to use ifoedit just open the ifo that contains the movie and go to make cffl list and save it .

open rempeg open your cffl list and away you go.

Excuse my ignorance (please!)

When ReMpeg2 loads all of these vobs, I take it it strips them down into a lower bit long file and then you have to author them back into .vobs - what happens with the audio?

Maybe I didn't understand your question correctly, but ReMPEG2 doesn't strip anything. What you do is analyze the movie and re-encode it and uses less space. Then you remux this new m2v file (IfoEdit) with the original vob files. Now everything should stay just the way it was, but it's smaller since the size of it's video that has changed.
ps. Don't forget your VTS_sectors when you're done.
