Hi, You are gonna need to give alot more info.
What operating system are you using?

Has this started after you installed any new soft/hardware? - Often conflicts will cause a system to stall.

Do you have any disks in the drives? Damadged/old/doddgy disks can cause stalling

Have you checked for spyware (use Spybot and adaware - use google to get them)?

What programs are running in the background? Check that you ae not overloading the system by doing control alt and delete

Have you tried memtest (google it)? Any memory problems will cause the PC to freeze.

There are many different reasons why a PC will freeze you will need to run through these steps to try and isolate the problem. If you get any Blue Screens with messages let us know what the messages are.

Best I can do at the minute.

OK, First thing you are going to need to do ASAP is get some spyware programs as I have mentioned before, get the updates and scan your system. My bet is is that there is a load of crap running in the back ground draining resources. You could also get a program like CCleaner and give your registery a little spring clean. You need to be scanning your PC on a regular basis I do mine at least twixce a week to make sure it stays free from spyware and malware.

Go here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/292257

Also go into task manager (CTRFL, ALT &DELETE at teh same time)and see what your CPU usage is, I am gonna bet its sitting pretty high.

Let us know how you get on.

What I would do is try and get your spyware run see if that helps things.

If you have system restore enabled try to roll back to an earlier time, that may help.

There could be a problem with your MBR -
Boot from the windows XP CD, press the "R" key in the setup in order to start the restoration console. Select your windows XP installation from the list, and enter the administrator password.
Enter the command: "FIXMBR" (without the quotes) at the input prompt and confirm the next question with a "Y" (without the quotes). Use exit to restore the computer.

Hope these help. Adh Mor

Do you have any important files on the hard drive ? If not the just format it and install a new operation system and see how it works !

Intel Pentium 4 3.2GHz, Radeon X700Pro 256MB PCIe, SuperMicro P4SCI ATX Motherboard, 800MHz FSB, 2 x 2GB DDR2800, GB LAN, 2 x WD 250GB SATA2 Hard Drives, Wireless Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse, LG 19" LCD.

I would try to repair the current installation you may be able to save your current files, install your new win xp over your exsisting one and you should be able to save the files, maybe try that before you go for a full format and clean install.

Have you tried the memtest. There can be a large number of reasons why a computer freezes, it can be from a clash of software, faulty drivers, hardware problems or a page file error.

Make sure you have the latest drivers for all your hardware.

Run the memtest

Check the integrety of your Hard drive - it could be faulty.

Try turning off any peripherals like scanner, printer etc in case there are power problems.

Make sure there are no issues with lineage 2 and other programs you are using - check for any patches on the lineage 2 web site.

Go into the bios and set it for default, it wouldn't do any harm to learn about the bios and tweak it and if needed update (or flash) it, although take care with that option!

The PC was working for several months so try and remember if you did anything prior to this happening that may have caused it.

If you didn't have an MBR your machine wouldn't boot.

Keep us informed of your progress

First i dont think that it would be freezing becouse of the hard drive ! Was the computer freezing when you were installing the softwares ?

Intel Pentium 4 3.2GHz, Radeon X700Pro 256MB PCIe, SuperMicro P4SCI ATX Motherboard, 800MHz FSB, 2 x 2GB DDR2800, GB LAN, 2 x WD 250GB SATA2 Hard Drives, Wireless Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse, LG 19" LCD.

The computer freezes at different moments
Example : When booting up at the windows loading screen
Example 2 : while chatting on msn
Example 3 : While playing lineage 2

I just reinstalled windows

Installed AVG ADAWARE and L2 and ofcourse msn
still it freezes

I've checked l2 and its nothing wrong with it
I should go open my computer and clean the dust
As i think this is the problem
I hope i dont screw or touch anything
when im cleaning wish me luck
I will post a reply immidiatly after ive done this

If you had bad sectors on your disk and the computer had stored information there, on retrieval you could find your machine freezing. I had a hard drive go down on me once and prior to its 'death' I was experiencing a bit of freezing but with no new changes in configuration - all other hardware is still working. I always feel it?s never a bad idea to discount all areas of possible concern.

It wouldnt be from the dust ! You should change your motherboard , processor or memory the problem would be in one of those three !

Intel Pentium 4 3.2GHz, Radeon X700Pro 256MB PCIe, SuperMicro P4SCI ATX Motherboard, 800MHz FSB, 2 x 2GB DDR2800, GB LAN, 2 x WD 250GB SATA2 Hard Drives, Wireless Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse, LG 19" LCD.
