I updated my driver for my nVidia 6600 GT (512mbs) graphics card as i hadn't updated it in well over 6 months, anyway after installed and rebooted the resoultion had changed from 1280 by 1024pxls to 800 by 600 pxls....anyway i thought this was just due to the settings being wiped from the new driver

So i logged on and changed the resolution back to 1280 by 1024pxls everything ran fine for that time BUT now whenever i restart the computer it starts in 800 by 600pxls which is REALLY big for my monitor...is there anyway i can make it so it STICKS to 1280 by 1028pxls rather than having to manually change it every time i turn the computer on?

Same thing happened to me last night after upgrading my card, except mine defaulted to 640 X 480! I opted to roll back the driver to the previous version.

Yep, there is something screwy with the newest Forceware, since I updated mine for the 7600GS on my Amd and the 6600gt on the Intel system they both report that I have only a single graphics card and sli cannot be configured,I never had more than 1 card per computer!

Either use your previous drivers or wait, they'll get it sorted out sooner or later.

Main System- Amd/64 3800x2 currently@ 2.5ghz. Asus A8N-E,win.xp-pro.4x1gb.Ocz platnium ddr 400,Maxtor 40gb.& 250gb.ide & 2x W.D.250 sata,Benq 1650V dvd Reader & Benq DW-1655 Writer,EVGA Geforce 7600gs,Creative Audigy-LS,Antec 750w psu. Vizio 37"hdtv monitor 1360x768@75hz.

Ok thanks for you feedback...will probs rollback as its getting annoying having to change it everytime i turn the computer on!

If i have done some seriously virus and spyware removal will it make a differance if i rollback? Wont recreate them or anything?

You just need to roll back the driver, not do a system restore. In Device Manager, right click on your card/Properties, Driver/Roll Back driver.
