Hi, I've been using DVD Decrypter for a few months now to back up my PS2 games and I've never had any problems. I just got done using all my Fujifilm+R disks and went and got some Sony DVD-R 16x discs. Now when I try to burn anything, decrypter tries to burn but always fails. Here is the message I am getting from it:
I/O Error!
ScsiStatus: 0x02
Interpretation: Check Condition
CDB: 2A 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 20 00
Interpretation: Write (10) - Sectors: 0 - 31
Sense Area: 70 00 05 00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 00 00 26 00 00 00 00 00
Interpretation: Invalid Field in Parameter List
Could it be the media I'm using, or the fact that I switched to -R's ? Any help would be appreciated.
Oh, and this is my first post, so please let me know if I broke any rules or anything (I read through them before posting, but just making sure).

since you don't mention what burner you have just taking a stab at it but, could it be that the burner you have is one of the older ones that only burns +r discs? If that's not the case then I would suggest to make sure you have the latest firmware (just a guess but maybe the media you got isn't compatible with the burner's old firmware)

My computer is about 8 months old, so its pretty new. My burner is:
SONY DVD+-RW DW-Q58A UDS1 (ATA)
according to DVD Decrypter.
Just so I'm sure, firmware is same thing as software right?

firmware is a special kind of software that hardware uses. You can check the sony site to see if there's any firmware updates for your drive but, I'm thinking that's not the problem (doesn't hurt to update it if there is a newer version). Does it give you that error on every single blank you try to burn (maybe that one disc was bad?)

yea, I tried restarting my computer, cleaning the lense, cleaning the discs, reinstalling decrypter.... and even tried a "Verbatim Digital Movie DVD-R" that one of my roomates had lying around. All in all, about 6 new coasters.

I didn't see you mention upgrade firmware so, I got you a link to the latest firmware for your burner
http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2113
The only other thing I can think of is maybe the DMA isn't turned on? That's about all the help I can offer on the subject. If none of those help, hope someone that has had this problem before and resolved it can help you out.

alright, downloaded firmware and 'flashed' it... now decrypter says my burner is:
Sony DVD RW Dw-Q58A UYS3 (ATA)
and i still get the same error when trying to burn games!
ugh, maybe i should just try to sell the rest of this DVD-R pack on ebay, and go buy a pack of dependable +r's

Which firmware did you try, UYS2, UYS3 ?
What is the current firmware it is running
(go to my computer, right click on DVD Drive, choose properties, look under the tabe like settings and one should tell you)
http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares.html there is another page that has the UYS3 firmware.

thats acutally the site I downloaded the firmware from, it came with 2 files:
Sony.Q58A.UYS3.stock
Sony.Q58A.UYS3.stock-flashfixed
I opened the flashfixed one, it did its thing, i restarted, tried decrypter again... still same problem.
Even downloaded ImgBurn and tried that, same ole same ole.
Oh, and the properties of my dvd drive from My Computer says:
Drive: SONY DVD RW DW-Q58A
(fw:UYS3)
Also looked to see if my DMA was enabled, and it was.
This is such a strange problem, cause I must've burned about 20 different games and all of them worked fine. Only when I ran out and had to buy a new pack (which happened to be -R instead of my usual +R) did I start to have a problem. Very strange.

Screw it, try Alcohol or Nero. There's guides for both at the top of the DVD Forums.
