Hi guys, I have a 1.5 psp (downgraded) and I have all the software like UMDemulator, DevHook and various emulators installed. The problem is when I try and extract large rar or Iso onto the memory stick 'Iso' Folder I get cyclic redundancy check errors or disk 'write is full' errors- even if the source is my desktop. I can get a few smaller Iso games under 100mb on there but never the larger files. The same with Snes Roms, I can get the small 100-400kb games to copy fine, but never the larger games. Do you think I'm just unlucky with the games or possibly WinRAR is busted? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

well make sure you unrar/unzip to you pc's hdd. not the psp. Then copy iso's over to the PSP Root ISO folder. Then make sure roms are in zip format, which is smaller. And place them in the ROm folder of the emulator. Other wise i dont know why the psp wont take large files.

Thanks for the reply. So I copy the rar file to my hdd, unrar it to get the iso, then zip it up before I put it in my memory stick? Well it's something I haven't tried so far so I'll give it a go tonight. The thing is I have about 750mb of space on my mem stick, so even an unpacked game should fit right? It's really annoying- as most problems are lol.

Thanks. I've tried that numerous times, to no avail. It's strange because I got NFS to work fine (200mb), it's just whenever I try a game of say 300mb plus, WinRAR stops extracting and gives me various errors, mainly CRC

I mean my PC is quite slow and I haven't formatted for about a year, so it could be that I guess. I'll try after a format. Thanks for the idea.

CRC is bit of mathematics used to ensure that your data is OK when being transfered. It's a checking procedure that quickly identifies when data has been damaged. If you get this message, it means that the file being read by your PC or software is corrupted.

Cheers. 90% of all the files i try and unrar stop partway through and give me this error (amongst others). The same files usually work on my friends PC.

Could be your Hard Drive at fault then. I used to have a DVD-Rom drive that always gave me CRC errors yet if I tried the same DVD in my DVD-RW it would read fine. CRC errors can also be produced if the hardware cant read the data properly. Its likely that the smaller ISOs are working because its less data being read. If it is your Hard Drive then the more data you are trying to copy the more chance you have of having one of these errors.
It might just be a case of you having to format and doing a fresh install on your PC.....

Hi again...I've had luck with some of the larger games now but it's so inconsistent. Sometimes a game gets copied to my memory stick fine, but other times the same game won't copy. I still get 'CRC', 'write error', 'I/O error'. Maybe there's a problem with the way my memory stick is set up:
Drive K:
Iso (I copy Iso here)
PSP (with Game, Photo, Movie...inside)
UMDemulator
The above are the only 3 folders I see immediately after connecting my psp to PC. Should there be something else like 'MP_root'?

Your memory stick might be shot or it could be a fake.

i've checked it and there's no stiker on the mem stick, it looks original. sometimes games work, sometimes not, is that a sign of a messed up mem stick?
