I'm new here, with a question. I'll try to give as much info as possible to make it easier for someone to help me. I went to a camp where we shot our own movie, they burned them on to DVDs, I got mine in the mail today, and I wanted to put it on google videos to send it to my friend in England. I have a DVD Recoder on my computer. What I would like to do is get the dvd movie onto a file on my computer, so I can do this, oh in a format that acctually works with google videos or something like that. I've tried putting it in my CD drive and right clicking to just move the files, but there are no files to be moved, on the DVD drive I explored and moved the folder, which contained five files in weird formats, to MyDocuments. Since they were in weird formats Nothing except Nero's video player could read them. So, I tried to take those files and put them on to data disk, and put that back on my computer, it didn't work. The next thing I tried was someone told me that from Nero I should be able to do that, I tried, the problem is that I have 5 files, I'm not sure what is the movie and what isn't, and they are in strange formats. Although it may come off like it, I'm not a total idiot with computers, I just go about everything the wrong way. If someone can help me, that would be great. No rush, but the sooner the better.
ThankS!
Amanda

What is this strange format?

99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

you have DVD compliant files that are IFO and VOB files. This is normal, not weird files. you need a program that will convert these files into MPEG format. Use a program like ImTOO MPEG Encoder3 to convert to AVI or MPG file format and then you'll be able to send out.

As IHoe states you will probably have to convert to another format if you want to put it on the web. If you just want to copy it to another DVD then just do a DVD Copy in Nero. Your disk is probably a DVD5 and already video compliant.
