PSP just makes a buzzing noise when trying to read the umd

like the title says,i put in my umd to play and it doesnt read it just makes a weird buzzing noise then nothing,i was wondering if this had happened to anyone as i done a quick search but couldnt find anything.hopefully someone can help

the UMD is unreadable, try cleaning it with a special cloth. To get rid of dust.

the umd is nearly brand new so dont thats the problem but ill try,thanks
edit tried that few times but still no go,i dont know if will be able to take it back as i downgraded it :(

Upgrade it back to 2.5 or 2.6. Make sure its something you can downgrade again tho incase they dont exchange it. Where did you buy it from? If you got it from best buy with the extended warranty stomp on the screen then take it back. Have done it first hand :). Along with a few other things.

hiya im from uk,bought it from game station pre owened,its got a 30 day exchange so i think ill take it back as only had had it a week,so how would i upgrade it back to 2.5 or 2.6 or wouldnt that matter?

It wouldn't matter. The game store is only going to check to see if the PSP powers up and plays a game. They don't care which version it is.

i have had the same problem it just makes a noise but woulnd load any games/movie's
your psp is broken you have to return it to sony it self
i did that and got a brand new one

Tell them at the store you wanna verify everything is in order. Then, you can check to make sure it's a downgradeable PSP before you actually buy it. If it's a 2.71, keep "browsing" until you find one that is lower than 2.71. ppl say not to downgrade a TA-082 b/c the motherboard won't take the downgrade. Well, that mobo is so new, I doubt it will be in the store under the "Used" category yet. :)

try using a cotton bud to clean the laser , or just take it back :) , lets pray u get a 2.6 or below lol

neva guess what....got up this morning treid it and it works fine dunno what was wrong with it but its playing fine now,im glad its working :) thanks for the help mates
