Disc at Once failing to start w/Nero 7.2.0.3

I am trying to record some .avi's onto an 8.5 GB DL DVD+R using Nero Express v7.2.0.3. When it's almost finished burning it gives me an error message saying that the Disc-At-Once failed to start?!
I've recorded many 4.7 GB DVD+R's and they all worked fine. Can anyone help me??

Hello.
It would be helpful if you posted your NeroHistory log located in this path:
C:\ ? Program Files > Nero > Nero7 > Core > NeroHistory
The log is divided into sections, one for each of the last several burn attempts.
Each section begins with a Nero Burning ROM header followed by your name and serial number. Only post the section that deals with this burn attempt, possibly the last section. Be sure to delete your name and program serial number before posting.
I don't find Nero a good burner of DL media. I usually select Image Recorder and output an ISO file that I then burn with either ImgBurn or DVD Decrypter.

updated the firmware and used that tool to get rid of what roxio left over. Tried recording again and same thing happened..... >:-( History log of the latest failed recording down below.

Hello bcj999.
Nero is not reporting the identity of your media which is sometimes a bad sign. What brand are you using. We usually only recommend Verbatim +RDL for DL burning.
I also do not think Nero is a good DL burner. I prefer ImgBurn or DVD Decrypter for DL burning. Try using either one of them to burn an ISO file. Nero can generate an ISO file by using the image recorder. To backup a DL disk, I suggest using DVD Decrypter.
Set the mode to ISO Read and rip the disk to your HDD.
Set the mode to ISO Write, select the companion MDS file to the ripped ISO file, and burn.

The brands of DL discs I've been using are Memorex and Fuji Film. I'm starting to agree that Nero is worthless when it comes to recording on DL. Oh by the way I'm not trying to burn ISO's with Nero. All I'm trying to do is burn compressed .avi files on a dvd that's been setup as "Make Data DVD" on the options of Nero Startsmart.
Those other burning progs you mentioned earlier, are any of them equipped with a data verification tool?

NeroVision would be doing the conversion of the files. Instead of selecting a DVD burner as the output device, select the Image Recorder. This will create an ISO image file with a .nrg extension. This file can be burned by either DVD Decrypter or Image burn.
Memorex DL disks are usually made by Ritek and are iffy. Fuji's DL disks are usually made by Ricoh and Ritek and aren't any better. It's hard to beat Verbatims period.
I'm not sure exactly what you mean by data verification tool. If you're asking whether they will verify a disk after burning, the answer is yes.

My question is why did you switch to version 7.2.3.2 and did you try burning with 7.0.8.2 AFTER you updated your firmware.

Gwendolin: I was switching between those two versions for troubleshooting purposes.
laddyboy: Next time i go to the store, verbatims I'll get! I've used them before and very good discs. My spindle of single layer disc (sony) is starting to run out as well. You think I should buy verbatim 4.7GB too?

Yes but did you try 7.0.8.2 after you updated your firmware, I see you tried 7.0.8.2 using your old firmware and then you went to 7.2.3.2 using New firmware.
I have tried 7.2.3.2 and found it to be buggy and failed to burn files that 7.0.8.2 had successfully burned so I reverted to 7.0.8.2

Yes I switched back to 7.0.8.2 after the firmware upgrade. It worked a little bit better compared to the other version. I'm starting to agree with laddyboy boy that non-verbatim DL discs and Nero are a bad combination. Because I did more test burns except I used Alcohol 120 and DVD Decrypter and my luck was a tad bit better.

Hello all, I have been told that I might be able to find an answer here.
I have been using Nero for several years now and I never encountered a problem such as this.
When I try to burn a cd or dvd the burn fails and I get the messege " could not perform start of disc at once ".
I tried several kinds of media and nothing worked, I tried unistalling and installing again Nero and still nothing works, I upgraded my version of Nero and still nothing.
My burner reads all media just fine, but I cannot burn anything with it.
I hope it's not a hardware problem, it's practicaly new.
I have posted the error log here.
I would be very greatful for any asistance.

InCD may be interfering. Unless you absolutel need the Nero InCD packet writing software, use the Nero InCD Clewan Tool and uninstall it.

Multisession disks on write-once media can be difficult. In my experience RW media seems to work better. Did you intend to write a multisession disk?

Thanks, I removed Incd but it didn't help, I usualy don't multisession but while I was trying several solutions I multisessioned.
