Just got a m3 apapter with passcard 3; I get a glimpse of passcard 3 then black screen when it is supposed to ask me if I want to update my firmware. I am using a kingston mini sd card. What do you suggest? I have tried formatting the card.

M3 takes about 2 mins to update. Maybe you have a corrupt update file? Also, make sure there are no other files that could be mistaken for the update. What I did on mine is have a sub folder for games and everything

i ended up turning the unit off after 15 minutes. I can not get the upgrade screen again. Do you think the m3 is toast?

Have you tried removing that update file from your miniSD card? I doubt the M3 is toast.. they're made pretty well. If you can get into your M3 without that Upgrade file on your card.. you should be ok. Make sure there are only .nds and .ds.gba files in the root directory (if you have any files there) and see if itll load normally. chances are you may have a corrupt upgrade file

Should I order a new mini sd flash card? I thought the Kingston would work as it is recommended.

Try redownloading the update file, and then put that in the root of you SD card and load the M3 in GBA mode, this should fix your M, if not, your M3 is indeed "toast"

**Make sure it's GBA mode, as this acts as a backup flash soloution**

Mr_Hanky; I have tried doing that. When I load from in GBA mode, do I need the Passcard 3 in the nds slot? I have tried to load with just the M3 in and the minisd card in the m3 adapter with the firmware file on the root and I have only got the black screen. I have ordered a minisd card, but think the m3 adapter may be hosed. Does this sound like this is the case? Should I try the new mini sd card before I send it back?

mr hanky, does the GBA manager on the M3 come up when an SD card isn't inserted? I'm just being curious since I think he was just unlucky and ended up with a defective M3.

the game manager should pop up even when there is no SD card in the M3 itself. I haven't tried this myself, but I don't see why it wouldnt - all the M3 system files are on the M3 itself, nothing is on the SD except for files for games, etc. If anything, it would tell you that you need to turn it off and insert an SD card or something.

As far as the Kingston miniSD goes.. if it works fine with your computer (reading, writing files) don't bother getting another one. I thought mine was defective, but then I upgraded my card reader's drivers and it worked like a champ. No need to spend the extra $$ replacing something that works!

I'd say contact the people you got the M3 from and ask for a replacement. I believe they come with a 1 yr warranty from M3adapter.com

Should I send it back to the place I bought it from or back to m3? I just got it this week.

where'd you get it from? I would send them an email and ask them how to go about doing it. Chances are they are going to send it straight back the Danny @ M3adapter anyway, so they might charge you that extra shipping charge associated with that (probably about $20 back.. he'll probably ship it out to them for free.. and then you have to pay another shipping charge to have it come back to you). I'd say e-mail the people you bought it from and find out though, best thing to do :)
