1. He just cleaned the laser mutlitple times, didn't work.
2. Not likely, it's only 3 weeks old.
3. Dunno about weather, never heard that one.
I think you're just overobsessing man. If all your games play fine, I wouldn't worry about it.

they all work fine, but its not that what im worried about its that the ps2 always makes weird loading sounds, and the sounds sound like the ps2 cant read the disc.Ive tried everything? maybe ill buy a modchip and get installed if my ps2 keeps doing that. But i dont have time for that so i still need some help.Im not trying to annoy you but my ps2 keeps bugging me when i play, ive tried some rental games and when i play them the discs feel like they arent in place and they hardly do the noise sounds probably cause they got azurodisc guard.Sorry for bugging you but i just need to find a solution to this problem.there might be some people out there with the same problem.but i dont know what to do now?
i know its either to do with the slim tool pro 2006 kit i installed or either the ps2?
what should i do?

sorry but i dont know how to edit my post but i can give you some more useful information that i know that might help you guys find the solution to the problem.
My ps2 slimline is a v14 i think
Example: i turn my ps2 and open the lid,the laser moves down and starts give red flashes and clicking so it can read a disc, i also have to turn off and turn on the ps2 to play a game as the ps2 stops clicking.so the laser moves down and goes flashing red with the clicks and the laser looks like it keeps pressing down when it clicks and flashes.so i turn off the ps2 and put swap magic disc 3.6 dvd ,untill it gets to the menu i open the lid and take the disc out and the laser stays where it moved down and it stays still and does nothing,so i put my backup, close the lid and press X,then the the clicking sounds begin,i now experienced while playing gun that the laser Clicks harder sometimes.
I had only installed Tool B and A, this is what i use: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Gaming/Playstation-2/Accessories/auction... or www.swapset.com
maybe this might help,dont know.

It could just be a shoddy laser. I'll ask for some advice from Davbere. Do you have to turn the PS2 on and off to get every game to boot, or just backups?

yeah i think so,happens to every game cause, when i turn the ps2 on the laser comes forward and the lens start clicking and flashing and it stops in like 7 seconds, but i think its because i installed swap magic pro 2006,maybe if i take it out it wont do it again but i still need it to use swap magic to play backups.I was thinking of buying a modchip and getting it installed by a professional since this product sounds like its gonna break my ps2.

There's no guarantee a chip would resolve it. If it's indeed related to the Slimkit, then it probably would. However, if the laser is on the fritz, a chip isn't gonna make much difference. It's a gamble, I'll let you know what I hear from Davbere.

I'd say leave the slim kit off, if you think that's what causing the noise. If you send your PS2 off to get fixed, might as well get it modded, that way, you can say goodbye to Swap Magic for all time, and enjoy backups the way the pros do. If you have the money, a chip is a great investment. The DMS 4 Pro SE, Matrix Infinity, and Crystal Chip 1.1 are all rock solid. Read my modchip FAQ for more info.

yeah thanks man, i was thinking of selling the swap magic 3.6 disc and buying the Matrix Infinity Modchip and getting it installed, the modchip is $35 NZ? with installition fee its $80 NZ? do you think its fake, heres a link http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=64921721 , its what i can just afford and what i can find near me.Ive also heard a few people get there consoles blown up by modchips.Ive read you faq yesterday,it was very interesting. But if i get it repaired itll take like 1-2 months.since last time my fat ps2 got its dvd drive broke it took weeks to get it back.well the guy i might buy the modchip might help me with the laser problem. So should i go for it? how long will the ps2 wear off do you think? since i want the ps2 to last more than 4 years.

Nope that's a modbo (crappy clone chip). It says so in the text below, and the pic is definitely not of an MI. This is what a real MI looks like.
Clone chips=crap. No respectable modders I know of even stock clone chips, I would definitely find another site to order from. Being your in New Zealand, I don't know any modders there. Chances are there's respectable modders down there who don't deal in clone chips. I'm particularly turned off by how they label it an MI, but clearly have a clone chip in the pic and one piece of info about it at the bottom:
Quote: upgrade from modbo3.0 and modbo4.0, comes with the original 100% v1.82 firmware
That reaks of dishonesty to me. I know from experience Joe Sixpack doesn't know a thing about modchips, that's why they come here. The average person could easily miss that. Anyway, look around, I know there's someone more reputable that than site in NZ.

But what happens if you use clone chips?

Clone chips don't have nearly the same features as the real chips, and they're only about $10 less. The firmware isn't upgradeable, so they're stuck with the features they come with. If you try to flash a modbo or any clone chip with official MI firmware it'll be destroyed. The same goes if you try to adjust anything in firmware menu. They're totally a waste of time and money. Keep looking, hopefully you'll find someone locally who deals in quality chips.

ive looked around, all of them are pretty much $80 + $100 installiation fee,and i dont have that kinda money, by the way im 14 if you never knew.Ive only have about $80-100. i dont really care if im stuck with the same features what i really care about is been able to play backups normally and not have any problems.and only having the ps2 last longer than 4 years. i dont even get any pocket money since i have to sell my games and stuff on trademe. Also can you explain to me what you mean by flashing a Clone with a a normal firmware and how would you do that? .Ive seen the DUO 3 for a cheap price i can afford, http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=65046541&permanent=0 . All the features there are all i need. ive also looked all over on the nz modchip sites and there price for installtion is something i cant afford.I was wondering if clone chips make ps2 lasts less than original ones? also should i go for the DUO or Messiah Modchip, since im low on budget?
also would this work? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Gaming/Playstation-2/Accessories/auction... its a H20 Modchip

Here's an MI for $60, though it doesn't include installation. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Gaming/Playstation-2/Accessories/auction...
If your choices are the Duo3, Modbo, or H20, go with the H20. According to the SubZero official site, it supports DVD-9 backups, and a single reset boots games. Plus it's not a clone. I still recommend saving up a little and getting a MI. If that's just not feasible, the H20 is the best choice available.
Flashing the chip means upgrading the firmware. You download the firmware, usually in bin and cue format, burn it to CD, and insert it in your PS2 to update the firmware. Newer firmware fixes bugs and unlocks new features in a modchip. The clone MI chips will be fried if you try to flash them with the official MI. It's rumored that an ex Matrix Team employee leaked the MI code and spawned all the clone chips. They all poorly emulate the MI, and aren't close in terms of reliability and power. A real MI is upgradeable and supports a whole host of features.

I'm not sure if it's compatible with v.14's. I believe the final ice code refers to the firmware. The official site seemed to indicate the firmware wasn't upgradeable. I'm not positive on that, just the impression I got.
http://www.d-vices.com/subzero/h2o.php
There's the homepage. It does say compatible with v.1-14, I'd do a little searching and make 100% sure it supports the newest model.

Okay, I talked to Davbere, and according to him the Modbo doesn't get fried if you adjust stuff in the firmware menu. That would put in ahead of the H20. If you went ahead and ordered the H20, don't fret, it should still work fine. If you haven't, go ahead and go with the Modbo.

ok i won the auction for the clone chip and asked advice, then asked him if i can cancel the trade.Ive also been doing about 2 hours of research on clone chips, besides i dont think i wanna touch them anymore since they give problems when you flash or change settings by mistake, and im not sure if they give 100% reliablity and if they make your ps2 last long enough or not. so im sending my ps2 torrmorow to get it fixed and when i get it back ill get a matrix infinity modchip for $60 + $80 installtion from www.x-mods.co.nz ,ill get it chipped after i get my ps2 fixed? just wondering also whats the difference between blue dot, green dot or yellow dot versions? Since you still can update firmware?
I Thank very one for there help specially Tokjin for not giving up on me!!!! your the best!!!!!!!!! :)
