First off, my modem is a Siemens Speedstream 4100, which is listed in the long list you guys have for port forwarding, so that makes me assume that it is also a combination router. I assume that means that I have to port forward, but I cannot. I followed the guidelines and created a static IP, but whenever I try to access the modem/router through the internet IP thing, it will not load. It always says "Error, could not load page" on both IE and Firefox. What is the problem here? Also, I just found out that my modem says, on the back "For advanced modem configuration, go to: http://192.168.0.1" So then I tried that and it still did not work. Neither that, nor my Default Gateway IP (actual IP, now static) works. I believe I have a combination router (how do I check, in any case?) and am trying to port forward, please help!
EDIT: Okay, according to the websites I have viewed, I my 4100 IS a router. So this is definitely the cause of my problems and I am now trying to port forward. I just need help getting to the site. The number does not work for some reason and I do not know why.
I did go and read everything there from FAQ's to forum searching and the guides they have but nothing relates to this problem. They all say to type the IP adress in the browser, but nothing I have read anywhere talks of what happens if it does not load. Posted this same message about a day ago and still no reply (in portforward).
Ok, I will try that. But I have a question. Apparently, there are several versions of the 4100, some are just modems. Suppose I have the modem version and it isn't a router, would I be able to access the web page online by going to the IP in the browser? Perhaps the reason I cannot connect is because it isn't a router? But you should still be able to access modem configurations. I'll reply back after I do the hard reset to see if that works.
