Hi all, I need some help again, this time I need advice on choosing the right LCD monitor.
My eyes have been killing me lately, and I've just about had enough with the standard traditional monitors...
The one I'm using right now is a 17" Flatscreen monitor. I need an LCD monitor to replace it, and also because my new computer desk orientation needs one. This monitor I'm using right now has an 18-inch long rear-end behind the screen and that will not fit. I also do not like big and heavy things.
First I would like to ask what response time should I be looking for? 8ms response time seems to be the most popular fast response time, compared to the (also popular) 12ms.
Is there much of a noticable difference between 8ms and 12ms? Because there are some great deals on 12ms LCD monitors at local stores but I'm not sure if they are considerably worse than 8ms.
I'm not looking for the best there is. It's just ridiculous delays in monitor response are going to be intolerable for me (I do some light gaming).
I think the most important question you want to know is the dead pixel policy for the manufacturer for each monitor. And the return period for it. Some have a 0 dead pixel policy some have up to 15.
I will be sure to get the monitor someplace where they allow exchange if defective, or returns if I don't like it.

If that is so, then it does not show on the product specifications or description of monitors as I'm browsing online. Since the dead pixel policy varies for each manufacturer, is there a brand you can recommend for me?

I have 2 that I'm happy with a Proview 19" and a Benq 20" I prefer the Benq over the Proview for viewing pleasure and am looking pretty hard at the Sceptre.Price wise when i bought the Proview I paid $260.00 for it and the Benq $360.00 for it . I have no regrets on either one. Chris
Basically the ms times unless your a gammer is not really noticable. The lower the number the faster the response time.

You got the policy correct. It's the number they say is acceptable before they will allow you to return the monitor. If you want to know what their policy is check out their website as all are different. I can't tell you which to go for, but will say to make sure you go look at it before you buy if possible.
