Hey guys, I'm trying to downgrade my psp, I bought it 1.5, not sure how the hell it went to2.00 but that's what system info says. Anyway, I'm downgrading followin the instructions, I put eboot in f:\games\UPDATE as told and I put the other two files in root and I put the overflow image in the /games/photos/ folder. I then plugged it in to the charger and entered the photo folder and nothing happened. Its suppose to launch the overflow exploit but to no avail.... is it possible my psp thinks its 2.0 and is still 1.5. I dont recall updating it and I only own lumines which doesnt update. I have run a few isos back in the day but never authorized an update. What should I do?

The photo folder should be named PHOTO not photos. All folders need to be in upper case. Try that and if it still doesn't work then give me a shout.

Have you tried putting an emulator on there like fastloader just to see if you are still on 1.5???

i say maybe some one was messing with your stuff but any way i was thinking why not just upgrade to 2.5 or 2.6 and then use the easy downgrader this is the full one and perfect for us lazy people since all you need to do is let the program run and install every thing it even has sound so you dont even have to read perfect lol

If I upgrade via the upgrade button on psp wont it take me to 2.7 and thus unupgradeable? Also, if the 2.5/6 downgrader isnt perfect yet, I don't wanna brick my psp....

Like I said before,

Is it possible that someone/you could have used the wab version changer to make the psp think its on 2.0???

It will only update to 2.7 if you have a 2.7 UMD in the drive.
Just either use a UMD that uses 2.6 or try and find a 2.6 Eboot file to upgrade from.....
The Easy Downgrader wont brick your PSP as long as you follow the on screen prompts properly....Ive done 6 PSPs using it with no probs.
You would need a copy of GTA : LCS to downgrade from 2.6 though, although you only need it for about 5 mins ! :)

well first of the disc you use to upgrade should tell you what upgrade it will give you and no this one is the final downgrader even safer then the one your useing all you need is a 2.0 grand theft auto liberty city and your good to go and it shouldnt be hard to get that game since i bet you can name 3 friend with that game right now
sorry burn ck dint see that u had answered already

Actually you can use 2.7 or 2.71 update eboot as theyre easily found on a few psp sites. But who would want 2.7/2.71 when you can emulate it.

Alright, I installed fastloader and devhook ultimate install pack and both seem to boot, i havent tried an iso yet. I guess this means my PSP is 1.5 and is just confused and saying 2.0?
Thats funny, my XBox thought it was a toaster last week....
Anyway. I guess thats it, its booting 1.5.
I don't recall using the WAB version changer on it, and no one else has access to my PSP, unless a 1 year old baby figured out how to change the version on a PSP.... Thanks everyone for the suggestions, espcially 4:00 in the morning (here atleast). I'm gonna try an iso or two, I'll update ya.

If fastloader boots then you are on 1.5, glad we finally got that cleared up.

thanks, that tells me what my psp version is.... which im aware of. I'm asking is there anyway to tell the psp its really a 1.5 and not 2.0. I tried reloading original settings and formatting memory card... Like I said, I don't really care. its a 1.5 that just thinks its 2.0. It boots stuff so meh. Thanks for your reply though! Everyone has been very helpful.
