Can two versions of Nero co-exist?

For comparison purposes, I'd like to have both the current year version of Nero (which happens to be Nero 7) on my computer at the same time as the last year version (ie. Nero 6).
Can two complete versions of Nero co-exist on the same computer, so that I can easily compare the features and performance of the two (many people claim that last year's version is better than this year's)?
Thanks

Thanks Saltgrass. Any bits or pieces that I should take with me from 6 to 7? Plugins? Template or covers?
Noticed 7 upgrade created its own serial number and didn't even ask me to enter a serial number. This serial number it created on its own, is not the same number I have on the back of my jewel case, nor is it the same number I had when it was 6. Anyone ever heard of unusual serial numbers appearing in the serial number field?
Emailed Nero but haven't heard back from them.

Thanks again for the link Saltgrass.

Upgrading from 6 to 7 is not free, you have to purchase it, probably why they changed the number. After 30 days, the serial number you were given will expire. After you purchase the upgrade, you can move to any version of Nero 7 you like.

Don't take any stuff from 6 to 7 because it might cause problems down the road.

Many people choose to stay with version 6, it just depends on what you need to do with the software. Check the differences in the versions and make that decision.

If you decide to go back to 6, make sure to use the clean tool for 7 prior to reinstalling 6.

I did buy the Nero 7 Ultra Edition retail box several days ago. And as I usually do, I checked for updates at the Nero site, a needlessly difficult task.
I downloaded an update file called Nero-7.2.3.2b_eng_no_yt.exe and when I tried to run it, it said that before I could install it I had to remove the previous Nero 7 installation I had just installed off the retail cd. Because that seemed absurd, I thought there was something wrong.
After searching the confusing Nero site, I contacted them and they apologized for the many pieces of information they have left out of their documentation (both in the retail box and on their site). The rep also said to run the updated file I had downloaded.
When I ran this updated file it automatically filled in a serial number that is NOT the serial number I have (hidden) on the back of my jewel case.

Should I delete this strange serial number and replace it with the serial number I was given in the retail package?
Thanks again.

I figured out how to edit a message, but not how to delete a message.

This version 7.2.3.2, I have found to be buggy, I recommend you uninstall, run this clean tool to remove Nero7 completely,
http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and then install this more stable version from here (7.0.8.2)

http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?845 ..just insert your serial number, if it shows as Demo, heres what Nero says.....

We regret to inform you that if you use the update function implemented in the software, you will find 'Update' listed as 'Demo' in our latest software version. You may, however, be assured that your version will not expire after you entered a valid serial number.
We regret any inconvenience this may cause.
This will be fixed in our next release.

Thank you Gwendolin. I will take your advice.
It's amusing to think that when I drove to the store and paid $60 for this retail box of Nero 7 Ultra Edition, all I really bought was a serial number.
It's somewhat amusing Ahead made me waste my time installing Version 7.0.1.3, then make me delete it and then have to get a special tool to make sure it was good and deleted.

To Ahead if they monitor this forum: How about a note in the box that says "Check the Nero website first for a newer version before installing this cd."

Thanks again Gwendolin and how do you make your wonderful signature display your beautiful name?
