With a TV tuner card and recorded shows either TS or mpeg2.

What is a simple way to convert them to XviD, what tools do people use or recommend ? The simple the solution the better for use on a HTPC running MCE.

Simplest is MpegMediator. (Make sure you have the XviD codec on your machine!).
