Hi folks, I'm wanting to switch to Nero, but I want to make sure I get all the correct plugins if needed:

Burn CDs (Data and Audio) (don't need MP3 b/c I have other software for that).
Burn DVDs (Data and Video).
VCD support (I can use TMPGEnc for video processing if I need).

I'm trying TMPGEnc for video encoding/MPEG2 processing, but I'm not sure what nero will do with MPEG2 processing for DVD Video. TMPGEnc seems to suit my needs right now, I'm not ready to spend real money ($200+) for "pro" DVD software.

First of all, I want the full Nero, not just the express, but some reviews I've seen say that Nero comes with Express and VisionExpress. I see there is a MPEG2/DVD plugin for VisionExpres but not Nero itself. Does the full version of Nero come with VisionExpress or is this an extra cost? Also, the website's order system sucks -- it will let you chose "one" software/plugin at a time. You would think they would use check boxes or a table allow you to add more than one product to the order. Oh well. I'm just trying to make sure I get what I need, but not spend more.

Thanks.

You can try Nero before buying it. Download it from here or www.download.com for a free 3o day trial. For the purposes you have mentioned above you will only need a plugin for SVCD/DVD authoring which is the Visionexpress part but I personally would not recommend it. For the extra price you can get other DVD authoring software like Sonic or from Pinnacle which I find is better. Nero is best for burning everything though including DVD and CD, copying etc.
