I found possibly the best FW Mod on PS2NFO last night.
When the Wifi Switch is off it boots Devhook emu (2.71) and with it on it boots 1.5 custom. Its cool and makes booting Devhook a little quicker.

you still need 1.5 to run it, all the Proof Of Concept Firmwares do at the moment is change the startup (like an autoexec.bat) telling it to load or not load certain things and load custom things at startup. It's just auto-booting into devhook it's not using a seperate bios or anything.
