If 2.70/2.71 are unhackable it doesn't necessarily mean that every update after that will be, if the next release is to include a demo of world tour soccer maybe this would present new holes and exploits. As the update will have to actively install the soccer files to the mem stick. If this could be picked apart then it may be possible to get it to install the extracted 1.5 eboot files thru the ipl or however Dark_AleX did it in the 2.5/2.6 downgrader.

Also why 2.70 then 2.71, usually if a new feature is added the firmware version changes more significantly i.e 2.50, 2.60, 2.70.

2.70 --> 2.71 might suggest there is a flaw in 2.70 that sony recognised and 2.71 is just to fix that flaw.

Also what if overflow.tif is introduced as a background or icon in an eboot.pbp, or even as a loading screen in a game iso, would that bypass the firmwares security and then load the exploit.

I know this might not be much help, just trying to come up with possible solutions.
