Ditch the 16x media. 16x media is very iffy for PS2 backups. For best results, pick up some 8x Taiyo Yuden's or Verbatm's.

86. Q. Where can I find good deals on legit Taiyo Yuden's and Verbatim's?
A. http://www.supermediastore.com
Great List of Merchants locally, online, in the U.K., etc:

I can't guarantee 100%, but if you follow good burning guidelines, you shouldn't have any issues.

I always use Memorex DVD-R 4x at 2x speed and ive never had trouble with my backups... I had one problem once with one dvd burner... try burning it on another burner to see what happens...

Completely disregard that advice. Memorex is crap, it'll likely code out to CMC Mag. The best it'll code out to is Ricoh/Ritek. You can get 100 TY's online for $35 with free ground shipping from http://www.supermediastore.com

How much did you pay for those Memosux? $70 for a 100? How many discs have you burned with them? Lemme guess, less than 100?

yep have to agree with you t i wouldnt touch memorex if you paid my and to be truthful giveing advise like that isnt going to help one bit just hes going to waste his money on disc and his ps2 lazer then come back and say im still having trouble then you just endup going in a circle that you cant get out off

stick with ty@s and at the very least ritek g05 also my opinion dump 3.8
it cause far to many problem

the way i see it if a game has enough seeds to be able to complete there nothing wrong with i iso maybe just human error!

Yeah I know that'll come off rude, but peeps who know me understand that I get incredibly frustrated with random newbs who come along insisting that Brand X works, so use that. That goes against all the empirical evidence around. People have a ton more issues with crap media than they do with Taiyo Yuden's or Verbatim's. 95% of people who use TY's and Verb's have no probs. The other 5% is easily attributed to user error. When you can get TY's online, cheaper than CMC Mag it blows my mind that people will still come along and say media quality doesn't matter.

You didn't verbally say it, but by encouraging him to use Memorex, your actions did. I only burn at 8x anymore, on Yuden000T02, only recommended with quality media.

That's a good decision, those Memorex will probably stop working in six months or so. Trust me, I'm not the only one who thinks that. I'm a Taiyo Yuden fanboy in the sense I've had nothing but success with them, but I'd never blindly endorse something without knowing for a fact it's a good product. Very few people have issues with TY's, when they do it's almost always due to user error.

Yeah those should work great. That's a good deal, even if the rebate doesn't pan out. I have limited personal experiences with 8x Verbs DVD-R's, I burned 15 or so for a friend of mine, and I scanned several of them with CD-DVD Speed, they graded out equal to TY's in most cases. This could start a flame war in the wrong forum, but I think it's okay here. I personally feel TY's are slightly ahead of Verb's in quality, not by much. That's just based on personal experience, help forums, and burn gurus. You won't go wrong with 8x Taiyo Yuden's or Verbatim's. If I didn't use TY's, I would use Verb's.

Yeah that was a random jump in. Princo bites the big one. Even DigitalFAQ got that one right. And please, please... optodisc and Infodisc are not second class.

I don't recommend them. That's one of the things I disagree with the guide on. The guide is solid in general, but it's very difficult to rank media in an exact manner. There's just too many variables. Go with 8x Taiyo Yuden's or Verbatim's, those have had the most success of any media, across the board.
