Hey,

Im having a few problems with my computer at the moment which at first i thought may have been a driver problem. Still in the back of my head i think it may be. The problem is:

I turn on my computer. It launches/posts smoothly it then gets to the xp loading screen smoothly. After around 10 seconds of being there the xp loading bar goes extremly static and moves real slow. After around 10 seconds of this the screen goes black. 1 minute later all i see on the black screen is my mouse. Whcih i can move around however it again moves very slowly/staticly. Then after (i times this) 5 and a half minutes it loads up windows again slowly. It then gets to my desktop. The screen flashes like a refresh. And my computer is running as fast as it should.

Weird huh!

So at first i thought it may be a driver/compatability issue. So i tried installing all the latest drivers. Updating my bios. To now avai.

I then tried uninstalling the graphics card driver. Then rebooting and then installing the graphics card again. To no avail.

Then i thought could it be my harddrive?? Its a harddrive i have had for just over 1 year. An IDE 160Gb Barracuda. The model number is ST3200822A. So i was thinking maybe its a fault in the harddrive. Is this possible. As waiting over 10 minutes for my computer to launch is just stupid.

Also my computer recently has been a little slow and constanly freezes. This may be because of a hot summer and a pretty big overclock. But the temps for my CPU arnt that bad (around 46 degrees)

So i was thinking of getting this one:

http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/99774

So what do you think?

ALso if anyone knows a cheaper one thats still SATA II that would be great. Sorry for the long winded post!!

Thanks for any replys

Lecsiy

Yep have tried reinstalling windows. Worked for a week or so and then went weird again :(

Hot CPU i doubt as why would it constantly stop at that point. And then why would it carry on and be able to game.

Graphics card. It can game and benchamrk so surely any problems would be found there.

SO thats why im thinking the harddirve any more ideas??
