I get this message using Recode to copy a DL size movie to a 4.7GB disc which I have been successful at in the past. I removed INCD and used the Clean tool. I reinstalled AnyDVD and I am back with the same error message. Firmware for my drives are up to date and I have managed to copy in the past to a target disk 4.7GB from DL. I slow the write speeds down to 2.4X and I am using Maxell DVD-R media. I know Nero 6.6.14 is evil but is this version also the cause of this error? I am pissed at Nero!

Hello.
Post your Nero burn log located in this path:
Program Files > Ahead > Nero > NeroHistory
The log is divided into sections, one for each of the last several attempted burns. Each section begins as follows:

Delete your name and serial number before posting. Post only the section for this last burn.
You will likely need to upgrade to version 6.6.0.18 the best stable version of Nero. But let's see what the log looks like first to ID any other possible problems.

You're trying to write a file the size of a dual layer disk (DVD9) to a regular single layer DVD5 disk.
In Nero Recode you need to set the target size to "Custom" and enter 4350 for a single layer disk.

Thanks for the info. I have 1GB of memory of which there were no applications open aside from virus protection and spyware. I checked for that just in case something was running in the background that I was not aware of. My system resources used in memory were under 400k so that leaves me plenty of room. Just wanted to clarify that. Also, I tried your 'custom' 4350Mb setting (deleting extras on DVD to be below this size) just in case Nero wasn't meeting the 4.7Gb target size that is says it will. No luck. Same error. I am about to unload this shitty version unless we can think of anything else.

2.4X's speed is not a valid option for DVD-R, 16,8,4,2 or 1
2.4 is a dvd rewritable (ram,r/w) or what Nero shows when it's not reading disc/drive correctly
